ABOUT EVELYN
My love affair with quilts started when I was very young. Growing up we had very few bought blankets. Even though quilts were a necessity, I loved quilts and had almost a reverence for them. When I married and was having a baby almost every year, quilts again became important to me. All of my six children always had a homemade quilt. Quilting became a passion for me about 1988. I made my first wall quilt and soon after I entered a vest in a magazine contest. My vest did not win, but it was published and featured in a subsequent issue. From then on quilting was my passion, but I worked full time and still had children at home. In 2000 we moved to Utah and I had more free time. Since then I have made many quilts, taught many classes and worked in two quilt shops. From these experiences my knowledge, techniques and workmanship have improved. I have also been designing my own quilts from the start. Graph paper and pencils were cheaper than purchased patterns. I do use patterns now, but they usually have a little twist that is all my own. I look forward to getting to know my customers on my blog and to be able to share experiences and tricks of the trade I have learned over the years and to have you share yours as well. I will be sure to pass each one shared on for all to enjoy.
ABOUT JESSE
I have always had a knack for making something new and useful out of what I could find lying around. I grew up on a farm where there was no shortage of things to repurpose into the next new gadget. Since then I have had many occasions to use these learned talents to “fix” the next broke thing that was needed. With having little money as an enlisted lower rank Air Force Airman, and having a family of seven, there was never a time when imagination wasn’t needed keep things going because we desperately needed something even if it was to dry up some tears of a sad child. Over the years learned engineering experience and skills have grown into a new adventure in my retirement “later life”. Working with laser equipment in my current vocation I have been awakened to the endless possibilities that laser cut creations can be. This developing “laser passion” is producing unique creations that are coming forward and being excitedly treasured. I really look forward to getting to know you - my customers.
